| |  Often I have been asked the same question: "Why do you spend hours and hours watching and reciting Caddyshack?" I`ll tell you why - because Caddyshack is the funniest golf movie that will ever be made. Many have tried to duplicate, and many have failed. They even tried to top Caddyshack by coming out with Caddyshack II. (in my opinion, a very sad attempt) The great success of this movie is contributed to in part by a brilliant script played by an outstanding cast. Take Bill Murray for example. He plays Carl Spackler, a hilarious, disgusting assistant greenskeeper on a task to kill "every gopher on the golf course". Other cast members such as Ted Knight (Judge Smails), Chevy Chase (Ty Webb), and Rodney Dangerfield (Al Czervic), contribute greatly to the plot and make Caddyshack even funnier. Caddyshack has a huge underground "cult" following stretching not only across the U.S., but also all over the world. I didn't realize just how many people can recite Caddyshack word for word until a recent golf outing. One of my playing partners, after a good shot, suddenly shouted, "It`s in the hole!", which just goes to show that after 26 years, Caddyshack fans are still everywhere. |
